A library for
the examined life.

Summa Rationum is the personal working library of Maximiliaan Dirk: a place to develop, preserve, and return to arguments about faith, philosophy, and moral questions.

The collection takes inspiration from the Catholic intellectual tradition and the lives and writings of the Fathers and Doctors of the Church, particularly Saint Augustine, Saint Thomas Aquinas, and Saint Teresa of Ávila.

Entries may be outlines, developing arguments, or finished works. These labels describe their state of development. Each work speaks in the author's own voice, with its premises, sources, and limitations explained in the text.

The purpose is the edification of author and reader: more careful reasoning, deeper understanding, and grounded conviction.
